General Parenting Courses - Maryanne Theuma
organised by In the Family Way - Now also in Naxxar.
(Marianne Theuma - kidsmalta.com resident expert)

Learning skills for life has nothing to do with obtaining certificates in Maths, Languages or any other subject as taught within the education system. Life skills are more oriented towards living a fulfilling life with our own self, our nearest and dearest within the family, our circle of friends or at our workplace. When it comes to family living, the basics of good Parenting are directly related to life skills. These are usually acquired within one’s own family by the age of 5 years. If not addressed at the right time and in the right way, mistakes may make an indelible mark on a child’s character which may then be carried through life. While most families usually try their best, the messages acquired ‘accidentally’ within one’s family at such an impressionable tender age, may not be the optimum to be used through adulthood.

A reliable source is necessary for the teaching of life skills which are considered fit for today’s ever-demanding society. Parents are usually held responsible, but where do they get their training? Parents themselves need to be equipped with the right knowledge. When the proper skills are mastered, parents stay in control of situations, even difficult ones, which are bound to arise one day or other within a family. When parents are confident, they make the best teachers and their children will be the winners in the long run.

To the left is a list of courses being offered by our school at present. There is a wide spectrum of subjects. Parenting is addressed from different aspects. Each course is a valuable source of information which when put together begins to fill up important parts of the great jigsaw puzzle called PARENTING.
